Vintage Orient & Flume Glass Paperweight ca. Offered is an amazing glass paperweight made by Orient & Flume of Chico, California. Titled Clear frosted, flowers, vines and millefiori, this paperweight comes with the Orient & Flume felt bag, box and descriptive pamphlet. A larger light purple flower and two larger white flowers are connected with iridescent green vines with blue iridescent rivers flowing alongside. A series of 14 small millefiori daisy-like flowers accent this beautiful piece. This handblown paperweight is etched on the bottom Orient & Flume and 203 At 1982. Orient and Flume has been making one-of-a-kind art glass creations since 1972 in their studios in Chico, Ca. The name Orient & Flume comes from the location of their first studio near the intersection of Orient and Flume Streets. They are still in operation in the newer studio on Park Avenue in Chico. Orient & Flume has permanent collections in the most prestigious museums in the world. Dimension/size This paperweight has an excellent round shape that is right at 3 in diameter. It weighs slightly more than 1.9 pounds. Condition As you can tell from the photos, this paperweight is in pristine condition. There are no condition issues that we could determine. The polished base is in excellent condition it doesnt appear this paperweight was ever displayed. The only issue we could determine does not relate to the paperweight itself but to, of all things, the box. This paperweight was one of a collection of several Orient & Flume paperweights and at some time, the box lid for this particular paperweight was switched with the box lid for another paperweight. Written on the side of this box lid is the description for another paperweight – one made in 1980. Just wanted to be upfront. Of course, it does not affect the condition of the paperweight itself.
