21 Papier Mache Doll Original Body, Paperweight Glass Eyes. This poor girl didn’t have to many good points to her when I began work- eyes going in two different directions, clothes in shreds and no hair! I added a small mohair wig so she wouldn’t be bald. Her original black stockings were nothing but holes so I gave her new black cotton socks but kept her shoes, unfortunately her mommy 100 years ago must of lost one of each! The pantaloons are actually the original ones that she was wearing. The original outfit (the last picture) was nothing but shreds so I created a new dress that incorporated some of the lace that was salvageable. The trim on the bottom of the dress actually appears to be bobbin tatting. Her bonnet is fine fillet crochet that was tucked in her dress. Her arms do have cracks in the mache and the back of the shoulder plate I repaired. The antique mother of pearl buttons have been used to close the dress.
