ST CLAIR GLASS PAPERWEIGHT ANDIRONS. Measures 22 1/2 high. Base measures 7 5/8″ wide x 19″ deep. I currently own a pair of these and have proudly sat in my fireplace for many years. What I’ve learned about these is that I like the “light bulb” shape to the bottom glass as opposed to the more oblong shaped glass at the bottom. All of these double glass models have the round at the top. Anyway, I prefer the ones for sale here. I also learned that you can indeed shine up the brass on these as I did that with the first set I bought to sell and I was able to remove a lot of the blackened spots but wherever it is scratched, the black will mostly remain or be dull with no lacquer there, so although they can look good and shiny and bright, they just don’t look like true antiques. I’ve decided to NOT polish them (including this pair) and to let the age and patina show. They are near burning hot flames and are antiques, so the aging looks more natural than the shiny all over look. Anyway, this pair has much patina on the brass and you can give them a good polish without hurting them (if you use the right methods). The glass appears in great shape with no scratches, chips or cracks. The iron bar back sections have a little light rust. They do sit straight but the table I have them on for the pictures has dips in the plastic top-sorry! Ask me any questions you might have! GREAT ITEM, GREAT COLLECTIBLE!
