This is a first quality and rare Perthshire millefiori paperweight, in perfect condition. A true collector’s item! It was issued in 1977. It is presented in its original dark blue satin lined box bearing the Perthshire logo. This is a high-sided close packed millefiori weight, featuring five exquisite cane clusters with seven flower heads each, made of myriad tiny and perfect canes surrounding a larger seven section centre cane cluster in the centre of which the letter’I’ denoting the commemorated year is placed. The round body of the weight is of clear crystal with five shallow concave’windows’ each with a’starburst’ so that this beautiful design can be seen from many angles. This weight has all the outstanding precision in the placement of these canes that can be expected from Perthshire. It displays a particularly beautiful and subtle colour palette in such variety as to be truly reminiscent of’a thousand flowers’. It has a flat slightly concave top so that the stunning beauty of the central cane composition can be seen and the original Perthshire paper label is still present on the star cut base. It measures 5cms (2″) across the diameter of the top facet and about 5.5cms (2½”) across the base and is about 4cms(1½) in height. It weighs 267gms without its box and 335gms with its box, before packing. I do not have the certificate for this weight but those collectors who have a copy of the definitive’The Complete Guide to Perthshire Paperweights’ by Mahoney and McClanahan pub. 1997 will find it on page 87. Condition The paperweight and its box are both in an excellent and clean condition for its 45 year life with no chips or scratches on the weight and no restoration or polishing. I always, as a matter of policy, use a’signed for’ and’tracked’ postal option and insure for the full value. These fine valuable glass pieces require good packaging and plenty of it. I pack most carefully in tough new packaging for which I make no charge. Please note that I have successfully sent fragile items all over the world for many years. I have also learned that with fragile items, it is safer and more prudent to pack in a comparatively large box. Please feel free to ask any questions.
