Timothy D Jerman paperweight with jellyfish and small fish engraved and signed jerman 1980 on the back. A one of a kind piece of American art. Tim Jerman was born in Bellefonte, PA June 25, 1957. He died in Logan, OH on June 6, 2004. Tim Jerman opened his first glass studio in 1978, but a car accident three years later caused a spinal cord injury that prevented him from blowing glass and working on large sculptures. To continue working in glass, he learned flameworking, a method of manipulating glass with a small flame that enabled him to work from his wheelchair. He has two sculptures displayed in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Renwick Gallery of the National Museum of American Art and has a piece in the permanent collection of the Ohio Craft Museum. It is signed / etched on the bottom Jerman 1980, so this paperweight was from his early blown glass years. The coloration on this paperweight is quite outstanding with wonderful gold iridescent colors. Condition: This paperweight is in great vintage condition.
