HAS A LONG SCRATCH ON MOUTH WHERE IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A CHIP… HOWEVER, I’M THINKING IS IS NOT A CHIP AS IT IS SMOOTH… THE SCRATCH GOES ACROSS THE INDENTATION. IT’S EITHER A CHIP OR NATURAL INDENTATION FROM THE CRYSTAL MAKING. EITHER WAY, I HAVE DISCOUNTED THIS PIECE ACCORDINGLY. IT IS NOT A PERFECT PIECE. Unique Antique Papier Mache Doll marked 3/0 Paperweight Glass Eyes German 21

Here is a lovely large Antique Papier Mache Doll. The doll’s shoulderhead is made of papier mache and marked with a large number 3 over the top of a 0 on the side of the dolls head. The doll measures 21 long and has an excelsior stuffed body. Sadly the left arm is missing but the right arm is still hanging on with some broken fingertips and both feet are also there. The hand and both feet are made of heavy plaster. I love the doll’s large blue paperweight glass eyes. You will notice around both eyes there is is a crack wrapping around both eyes (see picture). She has wonderful feathered painted brows, painted upper and lower eyelashes, warm blush pink cheeks, pink lips, with a small dimple in her chin. She still has a tuft of mohair coming out of the top of her head. The doll comes with a couple pieces of handmade antique doll clothing. All of the clothing is old and showing signs of wear and tear. The doll comes from a smoke-free home. Please let me know if you have any questions. 21 Papier Mache Doll Original Body, Paperweight Glass Eyes. This poor girl didn’t have to many good points to her when I began work- eyes going in two different directions, clothes in shreds and no hair! I added a small mohair wig so she wouldn’t be bald. Her original black stockings were nothing but holes so I gave her new black cotton socks but kept her shoes, unfortunately her mommy 100 years ago must of lost one of each! The pantaloons are actually the original ones that she was wearing. The original outfit (the last picture) was nothing but shreds so I created a new dress that incorporated some of the lace that was salvageable. The trim on the bottom of the dress actually appears to be bobbin tatting. Her bonnet is fine fillet crochet that was tucked in her dress. Her arms do have cracks in the mache and the back of the shoulder plate I repaired. The antique mother of pearl buttons have been used to close the dress. She has hand made replacement shoes designed on the original shoes she would of worn. She has been restrung so you are able move her to different poses nicely. She has damage to the head down the forehead and the side from ear to eye. She has been to the doll hospital so very well done repairs as you can see.
