VINTAGE VENETIAN SCRAMBLE PAPERWEIGHT MID 20th CENTURY. Rare and very beautiful traditional Venetian design copying the smaller, mid-19th century paperweights. Twisted multicoloured canes including latticino and opaline twists and air bubbles. Typical copper / aventurine inclusions. The broken pontil mark is just visible but it has been largely ground out and the underside of the base has been ground flat and lightly sandblasted. This medium-sized paperweight is of a design that was produced in Venetian glass for over 100 years but in increasingly larger versions right until the 1960s. Later versions, in addition to being much larger, lack the delicate colour tones of the antique paperweights. This example has much more vivid colours than the earlier example I have currently listed. Further scans can be made available if required. This is truly a piece for the discerning collector of rare mid-20th century Venetian / Murano glass. CONDITION : Perfect with a highly polished finish. No chips, fractures or any other kind of damage. Please see my other items for further examples of antique paperweights.
