Antique Clichy millefiori and roses chequer paperweight. Two concentric rings of spaced millefiori, including ruffles and pastry molds, are loosely separated by white latticinio tubes. Three iconic green and pink roses appear in a spaced row at the center of the design. An underlying layer of parallel rows of latticinio supports the design.

Antique Miniature French Clichy paperweight. The factory closed in 1885 but stopped making paperweights in the 1860′s so that will give you some idea of this paperweights age. 8 traditional Clichy canes surround a central green one in a clear base. I don’t find any cracks, chips or flea-bites tho I see some “as made” lines around a few canes. Please refer to photos.

Very bright, colorful 4-row concentric antique Baccarat, probably from the classic period of 1845-60. Lovely complex canes in this one: Middle cane of a bright white/red flower on blue which is ringed by a row of white canes with a light blue center. Next is a row of reddish canes with a pinkish center followed by a row of complex green canes with more row detail inside them and finally it’s a row of alternating complex blue-starred canes and white canes with pink stamens. Antique Millville Confetti Umbrella Paperweight Whitall Tatum circa 1900-12 Mariah’s Ring South Jersey Glass. Millville is well known as being one of the centers of 19. Century South Jersey glass making. Paperweights such as this were produced after-hours at Whitall Tatum, made after a glassworker had completed making his daily quota of laboratory or pharmaceutical ware. The clear glass used at Whitall Tatum was ideal for the production of paperweights. Many of the workers attempted to make such pieces, with limited levels of success. This all came to a crashing halt about 1912 when someone got greedy and opened the annealing oven where newly manufactured paperweights were cooling, with the intent to steal them. When the thief let the cool air into the annealing oven, it caused considerable breakage to the company glass pieces tempering in the same oven. This weight is in excellent condition. It stands 3¾ inches tall and has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches. The umbrella has a white frit colored base for the flower and sports pink, cobalt blue, shades of yellow and red “speckled” frit covering the top of the flower. The umbrella flower has been pulled down quite low on the weight. It has a round concave facet on the top with a center air bubble beneath it, and a pontil mark on the base.
