Vintage Glass Paperweight

Vintage 1950s Murano Glass Concentric Milifiore Paperweight Great Colors and Detailing. Would make a great gift or keep for yourself. Just a great Murano glass paperweight here. Unique and uncommon piece as the top is flat and then 6 flat side around the perimeter of the piece. Beautiful coloring and details. The name “Murano” is etched into the glass on the bottom of the piece. Some minor surface wear to the glass, but still shows well. No cracks, chips or blistering of the glass. My guess is the piece dates to the 1950s to 1960s, but you be the judge before acquiring. The Murano Glasss paperweight is 2-5/8″ tall, by 3-1/8″ across, by 3-1/8 wide. Murano glass is glass made on the Venetian island of Murano, which has specialized in fancy glass wares for centuries. Murano’s glass makers led Europe for centuries, developing or refining many technologies including crystalline glass, enameled glass (smalto), glass with threads of gold (aventurine), multicolored glass (millefiori), milk glass (lattimo), and imitation gemstones made of glass. Today, the artisans of Murano are still employing these centuries-old techniques, crafting everything from contemporary art glass and glass figurines to Murano glass chandeliers and wine stoppers, as well as tourist souvenirs.
