David Lotton began his life-long career, working with every aspect of Art in Glass. I dont have impressive academic training or remarkable apprenticeships on my resume, as many other successful artists do, said David. My approach to glass stems out of my love to create beautiful things with many different types of material. I enjoy working with high quality raw woods, durable metals as well as highly refined glass. In creating my art I incorporate my love for different textures, shapes and color combinations. Everyday is a new day to experiment, stretching the envelope of what is possible with all sorts of materials I have on hand. I often tell my wife, One mans junk is another mans treasure. Nature is constantly trying to throw you a curve ball just as glass does. You have to have patience, persistence and stamina to succeed in producing a sellable product. The last 30 years has been a journey, I have learned a lot by trial and error. One of my hobbies is collecting Art Glass Paperweights. Charles Lotton Vintage Multi-Flora Paperweight in pristine, original owner condition. This exquisite radiant piece is translucent amber with red/orange flowers and silver heart shaped leaves. 1974, signed Charles Lotton. Sorry, no international or APO. Vintage Charles Lotton art glass presently owned by his first customer. In the late 60s Charles was my hairdresser. He told me he had found a complete Encyclopedia Britannica from the late 1800s at a garage sale. In it he came across a detailed section describing the art of glass blowing with examples of. Tiffany and other world-famous glass artisans. Week after week, he would tell me about what he was learning and how he was setting up a glass-blowing shop in his garage. I was as fascinated in what he was telling me as he was in pursuing the craft. When he brought his early pieces to the beauty shop to show me, I couldnt resist the amazing beauty and was more and more astounded in the incredible creativity of his artistry. It was a delight to see Charless limitless creativity and enhanced skill in those first years of his new full-time endeavor. VINTAGE LOTTON SIGNED ART GLASS GOLD, BLUE & PURPLE 1993 IRIDIZED PAPERWEIGHT. A beautiful piece of contemporary American hand-made studio art glass created at Lotton Art Glass. The base color of the glass is difficult to determine but may simply be crystal or clear colored glass. It is covered on the top portion with a gold color and into that color the artist has worked a series of leaf shapes that are blue and purple in color. The paperweight has a satin or slightly frosted finish to the glass with a light iridized or carnival glass coating. This piece has been in my personal collection since 1993. The paperweight is factory ground and polished on the underside so it sits flat and level. It is also signed on the underside Lotton, 1993. While the Lotton signature is partly illegible, I believe this piece was created by the glass artist John Lotton. As far as I can tell John Lotton is no longer working in hot glass. I find no website for him and he is not mentioned on the Lotton Glass family website. In my mind this is eventually going to cause the prices for pieces produced by him to increase in value. It is a fine example and gorgeous as you can see from the photos! I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables. This piece dates to circa 1993. It is in pristine mint original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. There are no chips, flea bites, cracks, scratches, hairlines or repairs. Please keep in mind these photos can be blown up at least 8X-10X times normal, so anything you see will look 8X-10X times larger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece. It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. About 3 (7.6 cm) in diameter and about 2 (5.1 cm) off the table. About 15 ounces (425 grams). On heavier items I will also offer a less expensive option, if available.
