Magnum Gene Crabtree Icepick Flower Paperweight

Magnum Gene Crabtree Icepick Flower Paperweight. This paperweight has four brown icepick flowers over a yellow cushion ground. There is a large bubble in the center and between the flowers and also a pattern of smaller bubbles surrounding the design. The base is fire finished and is signed with a pontil stamp on the base “Gene Crabtree”. This paperweight probably dates from the early 1970s. A very large showy paperweight with great color. Please Note: The stand shown in the pictures is not included with the paperweight. It is shown for illustration only. Note on white glare : Please ignore the white areas, they are glare from the light. This design is sometimes called an icepick flower design because an icepick type tool is pushed down through the colored layer to create the stem for the flower. The design is made by placing the brown frit (ground glass) in a metal template, then picking it up with a gather of clear glass. An icepick like tool is then used to create a stem and center bubble in each petal. Eugene Crabtree who was one of the earliest glass workers at Wheaton Village in Millville, New Jersey. He made paperweights at Wheaton Village starting in the 1960s and also worked at a number of other glass factories. Magnum Size: 3 9/16″ diameter by 3 1/4″ high. The base is fire finished with a pontil signature stamp. This paperweight weighs 34 ounces. Condition: Excellent condition with no scratches, chips, or cracks found on inspection. Signature: Signed on the base with a “Gene Crabtree” pontil stamp. Allan’s Paperweights is owned by Allan Port. If in doubt, please check with me first. Please do not ask me to declare this a gift. Magnum Murano Faceted Double Overlay Six Row Concentric Millefiori Paperweight. A wonderful Murano six row concentric millefiori paperweight with a double overlay of red and white glass. The concentric design is rounded so it is visible through the side facets as well as the top. This paperweight is faceted with one large top facet and five side facets. The bottom is ground flat and finished with a grid cut. Probably made in the 1960s by Fratelli Toso. Note : There is a faint 3/16 circular impact mark on the red overlay near the base and also a few faint scratches in the overlay. One of the pictures points out the impact mark with an arrow. Please Note: The stand shown in the pictures is not included with the paperweight. It is shown for illustration only. Note on white glare : Please ignore the white areas, they are glare from the light. This paperweight was made on the island of Murano in Venice, Italy. Venetian glass making dates back centuries and the Venetians are given credit for the earliest millefiori canes and paperweights in 1840s. More recently, paperweight making was revived in the 1930s and again in the 1960s. Very Large Size : Just under 3 3/16″ diameter by 1 13/16″ high. The base ground flat and finished with a grid cut. This paperweight is faceted with one large top facet and five smaller side facets. Signature : Unsigned, but I guarantee that this paperweight is from the island of Murano in Venice, Italy. It was probably made in the 1960s by Fratelli Toso. Condition : Very good condition. There is a faint 3/16 circular impact mark on the red overlay near the base and also a few faint scratches in the overlay. No other chips or cracks were found on inspection. Stunning Perthshire 4 Magnum Pedestal Paperweight 1990G Annual Ltd Ed of 163

I have for sale a stunning and rare Perthshire 1990G Annual limited edition pedestal paperweight/ piedouche. This was to be a run of 200 weights of which only 163 were actually made. This one is numbered #52. He also has his own glass studio and has created beautiful paperweights since Perthshire’s closing. This weight has a large crown of close packed beautiful multicolor complex canes with a “PP1990″ cane in the center and a “PMcD” cane on the edge. This particular signature cane with his initials outlined in orange, he told me, is his favored cane over the white cane with his initials outlined in red and black. Only a few were made with this cane and the rest were made with the white, red and black cane. The crown stands on a pedestal with white latticino twists and a faceted (10 sided) base which has it’s original label and is scratched with the edition number “#52″. It is featured in “The Complete Guide to Perthshire Paperweights” by Colin & Debby Mahoney and. Gary & Marge McClanahan p. There are two extremely light, short scratches on the bottom of the base just above the etched number #52 that you can see in the photo. Other than that it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, etc. And measures 3 7/8 diameter x 4. This means if you are not home to sign for it the post office will hold it for you for up to seven days. Due to lighting conditions and individual screen resolutions colors may vary slightly from pics. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me. This paperweight features an extra large checker board arrangement of 96 millefiori canes plus four signature canes. The checker board is created using 18 pink stringers.
