Vintage Glass Paperweight

A Scarce and LARGE Vintage Frit Upright Turquoise, Blue & White Trumpet Flower rising above a Blue and Snow White Umbrella Ground. This Amazing Art Glass Paperweight was Designed and Made by Edward Rithner. (Circa 1935 – 1955) I see some gather lines which are typical of weights from this era. I see several tiny controlled bubbles here and there that add to the delicate motif. This Amazing Work of Art Glass is much better seen in person because the pictures do not do it justice. No Collection is truly complete without a few Ed Rithner pieces. These Frit Designs by Rithner are Very Scare and hard to come by. The bottom is slightly concave and frosted. I consider this Amazing Work of Art to be in Excellent Original Vintage Condition. There is negligible shelf ware to the basal rim. Some of this Wonderful Paperweights Fascinating History. This Art Glass Paperweight is from the late William Gaskills Cherished Collection. Gaskill was a former President of the National Paperweight Collectors Association (PCA) and an avid and very astute Art Glass Paperweight Collector. After His passing, his collection was on loan (for approximately 3 years from 2006 to 2009) to the Museum of American Glass (Wheaton Village) in Millville, NJ, which is now known as Wheaton Village Arts and Cultural Center. Gaskills highly regarded and very extensive Art Glass Paperweight Collection was on display in their most prominent area of the Museum at that time. Just prior to being put on display at the Museum, Lawrence Selman of the Renown L. Selman was commissioned to do an appraisal of the entire collection. Selman is known worldwide for his expertise in the field of Art Glass Paperweights and in 2001, Selman was awarded the honor of being named by the Paperweight Collectors Association, one of the Top Ten People of the 20. Century to influence the paperweight art form. Gaskills collection was considered to be one of the largest gatherings of Antique American Art Glass Paperweights known to be in private hands. In 2009 a family member took possession of the entire collection and it went safely and quietly into storage for approximately 6 years, from 2009 to 2015. In 2016 I was very proud and honored to have had the opportunity to acquire a large portion of Mr. Gaskills Wonderful and Cherished Art Glass Paperweight Collection.
