A Rare Perthshire PP78 Paperweight 1986

A rare Perthshire PP78 Paperweight. A large millefiori weight with four twists radiating from a central cane to form a cross that separates four cane groups in 4-5-6 pattern. An outer ring with a large cane at the centre of two seven cane strings within each quartile. With paper label and P1986 cane on the base. A single 4mm fine scratch on the flank. PERTHSHIRE 1981E Acorns L/E

A branch with two acorns and oak leaves rests on a white Spiral latticinio cushion in this fancy cut 1981 paperweight from Perthshire. Perthshire’s designation is 1981E. The weight is 2-11/16″ in diameter and 2-1/8″ high and is signed with a “P1981″ cane in the base. It is cut with one top facet, eight large elongated lower side facets, and a ring of eight larger and sixteen smaller upper side facets. Although the edition size was not more than 300 pieces, only 236 were ever made. (See page 35 of “The Complete Guide to Perthshire Paperweights” by Mahoney/McClanahan). Large Perthshire millefiori artglass paperweight (Scotland). Attrracttive blue, green and white millefiori paperweight with a central P cane surrounded by 2 concentric rings of canes and 10 dark twist canes separating groups of 1-1-2-3 canes. These are then surrounded by a ring of blue and white twist canes and another ring of green and white canes. This paperweight is in very good condition and still has its original Perthshire label. Beautiful millefiori art glass paperweight made by Perthshire Paperweights in Crieff, Scotland. This particular paperweight is large-sized and measures about 3 in diameter. It’s dome-shaped with a hollow ground base. The design features a beautiful maroon red background. It has a central cane with a “P” inside surrounded by 2 concentric rings of canes. The backround is divided into sections separated by 14 radial twists with canes in an unusual 1-1-1-2-2 pattern. I believe this to be a PP1 paperweight made between 1978 and 1981, based on information on page 77 in the book. The Complete Guide to Perthshire Paperweights. By Mahoney & McClanahan. It’s guaranteed to be an authentic Perthshire paperweight and not a cheap imitation. Condition of this vintage Perthshire paperweight is EXCELLENT. I did notice a thin, internal raised arch over the center rings of canes that I can’t explain (see photo). It’s only visible from certain angles. I don’t see any noticeable scratches or nicks. Overall, this Perthshire paperweight looks fantastic and displays beautifully. It would make a fine addition to any collection. Please take a close look at the many photos I’ve provided and judge condition for yourself. This unusual 1-1-1-2-2 PP1 design appears to be quite rare. See my other listings. For more great items! Perthshire Paperweight 1997B Millefiori and Lampwork Flowers Paperweight #179 LE W/COA. It is referred to as 1997B. The design is a complex combination of millefiori canes and delicate lampwork flowers and buds. It is approximately 3 inches across. It has one top facet and nine side facets and the base is a truly lovely amethyst translucent color. The facets perfectly allow visibility of the flowers and magnification of the top facet is perfect. It has its certificate of authenticity signed by Neil Drysdale and the COA identifies this paperweight as number 179 out of an edition that was limited to 250 pieces. It is not clear if the edition was completed. The P1997 identity cane is in the base.
