Made in Murano, Italy, and mesmerizingly beautiful, this golden glass egg paperweight was crafted by world renowned master glassmaker, Archimede Seguso circa 1960′s-70′s. The central black glass is surrounded by a swirl of exquisitely crafted gold bulliconte (controlled bubbles) and tiny flecks of gold. One can only wonder how the bubbles were formed so perfectly. It is in excellent pre owned condition. No issues; no wear or damage. Hand signed by the artist on polished base (pontil), “Archimede Seguso Murano”. Please see all photos for detail on condition and craftsmanship. A truly spectacular piece! Measurements: 3 1/4″H x2 1/2″W at its widest. Weight: 1 lb 1 oz. All items at Pangibles Vintage are pre-loved, vintage items. I try my utmost to give an accurate representation of the item. Occasionally, I may miss something (age, condition, materials). All items at Pangibles Vintage are sourced from antique shops, thrift shops, estate and tag sales, auctions, and friends and family. When the provenance of an item is known, it will always be mentioned. Each piece is thoroughly inspected and rated from excellent pre owned condition (no wear visible) to good pre owned condition (some obvious wear). Each piece is cleaned/dusted as appropriate (always leaving any natural patina on surface).

WHITEFRIARS CAITHNESS PAPERWEIGHT PURPLE Flowers Beautiful Faceted Signed
whitefriars

This is a gorgeous lead crystal Whitefriars Caithness paperweight consisting of three purple lampwork flowers interspersed by three stems with two bright green leaves on each. Within each leaf are five small darker leaves showing an interesting contrast. The purple flowers have a yellow star center encircling a millefiori cane. Around this ensemble is a ring of fine lavender millefiori canes. In one of the canes is the Whitefriars signature cane, (the silhouette of a robed standing figure–a White Friar). The paperweight has eight side facets and one top facet. It is beautifully cut on the bottom and going up the sides to the layout, resembling a sunburst or star cut. The colors are crisp and bright. Condition: excellent with no scratches that I can see or bruises, chips or other damage. I can not see, but can feel, a few rough places on the bottom ridges of the starburst, indicating only expected minor wear from use. When Whitefriars closed in 1981 Caithness bought the right to use the Whitefriars name, logo and stock of millefiori canes. This paperweight does not have the Caithness name on it or a date, but does have 29/50 on one of the starburst “rays” on the bottom. Dimensions: 3 4/16 diameter; 2 7/16 height. Please see all of my pictures as they are part of the description. The stand is not included, used only for display.
